Karen has been an integral part of Akoya Capital since 2005, contributing significantly to the firm’s formation and branding. She holds a crucial role in managing the firm’s marketing, communications, and investor relations activities to ensure that the firm’s brand awareness remains high in the market and with investors.
Apart from her marketing, communication, and investor relations responsibilities, Karen is also passionate about building and reinforcing the firm’s culture and values. Her efforts help create a positive work environment and ensure that the firm’s values are upheld.
Before joining Akoya Capital, Karen worked at the Carlyle Group, where she oversaw all operations within the boutique executive search firm. She also has experience in commercial real estate leasing and development, which adds to her diverse skill set.
Karen attended Columbia College with a concentration in Marketing.
Karen’s personal life centers around her family, her two dogs, and her passion for raising awareness about type 1 diabetes. She lives in Lincoln Park with her husband, Larry, and their two dogs, Cooper and Grant.
Karen has been involved in raising awareness about type 1 diabetes and supporting research to find a cure. She has worked with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and Friends for the Cure, a grass-roots effort to help fund research at the University of Chicago Kovler Diabetes Center.
When Karen is not working, she enjoys traveling and boating with her husband and spending time with her son, Nick, and bonus daughters, Dana and Claire.
